We're thrilled to be introducing Environmental ASL, a new way for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals to interact with Second Voice.

Environmental ASL gives customers a way to experience and interact with the world around them via American Sign Language (ASL). Second Voice uses the microphones on the user's device and a voice recognition algorithm to listen for anything being said nearby, then transcribes it into both written text and ASL on the user's screen.

The feature will roll out in the next update to premium subscribers as part of a beta, and we can't wait to see how customers put it to use. As we continue to expand and refine it, we hope to move it out of beta entirely. Premium is priced at $9.99/month CAD or $99.99/year.

As with any AI-powered or speech recognition tool in Second Voice, Environmental ASL can make mistakes. We are committed to being transparent about these risks, which is why all AI-powered and beta features come with clear in-app warning labels.

Environmental ASL is not a replacement for a professional American Sign Language interpreter, nor should it be used as one. We highly recommend using a professional interpreter for high-stakes situations such as signing contracts, agreeing to financial terms, or filing taxes. This feature is designed to make day-to-day communication easier for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, not to replace professional services.

As always, no feature in Second Voice should be used as a substitute for professional medical help.
